The Two Behind the Story
Kevin Whalen
Kevin joined the US Army Special Forces after the 9/11 terrorist attacks and deployed all over the Middle East, training, advising and leading the local forces of those countries in defense of their own homes. Retiring after a parachute accident, he spent a decade training the next generation of Special Operators in the hard lessons he learned on the battlefield. In addition to being a soldier, he's also been a touring musician, competition fencer, private investigator and business consultant. He now pours all that experience into his writing. He's an unlikely romance/thriller novelist — a gym-rat, gun-loving, Corvette-driving vet who tapped into writing as therapy after divorce and a life reset in his 50s.
Christy McCranie
Christy McCranie co-founded a successful family business, homeschooled five children, and led church and political movements. At 50, she chose herself, leaving a dissociative cage of binary thinking through divorce and deconstruction.
Her journey into fiction began unexpectedly — when Kevin's romantic texts revealed him to be a natural storyteller. She encouraged him to try writing a book. That spark grew into a full creative collaboration, resulting in the thriller What Lies Beneath White Creek.
Now a Kambo practitioner, she facilitates generational healing and relational evolution via writing, plant medicine, and facilitating Kambo ceremonies.
